About

A Brief History of Mikas Jewellery

Mikas Jewellery started as a hobby and gradually transformed into an artisan business. Without any
thought, but simply a desire to create and design, I now describe myself as an aspiring artist in this
field.
Originating from the Czech Republic, I spent half of my life in London. I initially studied Hotel
Operations and Management. However, due to my desire to create, I moved in to the construction
industry, finishing as a plasterer and general builder. My experience in this area is extensive but after
many years, it no longer posed a challenge and did not feed my creative side.
Since my childhood, I have always been curious, which often resulted in learning new skills;
skateboarding, air craft modelling – even becoming a Yoyo Master! I have always needed a
challenge and have a desire to explore, create and mature.
In 2015, quite by chance, I developed an interest in jewellery making. This initially came from the
crystals in a bracelet worn by a friend of mine. I was attracted to the magical and energetic properties
of these minerals, which stirred my curiosity, and another hobby was born.
Since that time, I have made many bracelets and necklaces. I enjoyed the opportunity to develop my
talent, which has been self-taught. Whilst in the UK, I began collecting the tools, searching for
materials and spent many hours honing my skills into becoming an artist in this field. I progressed
into using jade and nephrite and this journey has brought me to where I am now.
I hope you enjoy viewing my products, in the knowledge that it has given me such pleasure to create
each piece, which are as individual as the gemstones used to make them.
